Religion as been responsible for majority of conflicts around the world.This has been due to what different religion think of God.Different theories of God have been made in the past,and more is still being created.But What is God?Who is God?
Recently
a ‘non-theology’ was announced which claimed ‘that belief in God is
irrelevant in modern life.God once existed,but now he is dead,and the
churches must learn to do without him.’
The idea quickly became common property,possibly because it made people take thought as to what their idea of God was.I affirm emphatically and categorically that God is not dead,because God is Life,and life must always remain alive,it cannot possibly die,or know anything about death.
What is dying fast are many old concepts of God,and this is good,the sooner they are quite dead the better it will be for the whole human race.It has been said that one of the saddest things in Church history was the presentation of Jesus as the great exception instead of the great example.
An even greater stumbling block is the emphasis on God as a person,instead of God as the Life Principle.God is a name some one person must have originally thought of as a word symbol to express his idea of Great Universal Power and Intelligence,undoubtedly meaning that it was all good.As man’s understanding of nature and it’s workings were probably very primitive he would conceive of it as being like himself only infinitely greater and more powerful.Cowper wrote: ‘Nature is but a name for an effect,Whose cause is God.’
The reverse also is true,God is but a name given to cause,its effect is nature.Other peoples have given different names to the same Universal Intelligence and Power,but whatever it is named it remains as always spontaneously creative,without beginning, ,without end,whole and perfect.
As man evolves and matures he is always arriving at new concepts about everything that concerns him.The nature of the universe and the laws governing it ,and the nature of himself and his relationship to the universe.The three main aspects of approach to these concepts are science,philosophy and religion.Until comparatively about four decades ago these three approaches were considered to be incompatible,but it is so no longer.Although they each still use individual methods of conducting enquiry,they are now overlapping and will ultimately become far more closely linked,because all life is one.Few people realize what a profound influence their concept of God has on their lives in all its aspects.
There are those who believe in a God who ordains sickness and health,poverty and wealth,happiness and misery,but I prefer to say,’God is all there is’.It would appear on the surface that we agree with the belief,but it is not so.Many who support the belief in God ordained suffering show great fortituide and courage,accepting the idea that if they suffer uncomplainingly now,they will be rewarded in some future life.
Then there are those who believe in a God who sits at judgement watching every move and motive,and who will at the last day –whenever that may be – call them to account for all the sins they have commited,and deal out punishment to fit the crime.This idea of God engenders a guilt feeling,and a terrible fear which has caused havoc in many lives.Unfourtunately these concepts are most frequently formed at a time when one cannot give considered reason and logical thoughts about them - in early childhood,when the mind is open and receptive to all ideas.
Many children have been taught that God is love,God is kind,and that God will always protect them,and they accept it and believe it to be true.Then comes the time when that belief is jolted.’If God is loving,kind,and protective,why does he allow so much suffering/tragedies to occur?Why does he allow some people to be exploited by others?Why doesn’t he stop all wars?Children are often taught to pray to a God who will provide things for them if they are good.Sometimes their prayers are answered,sometimes not,and it all gets very confusing and frustrating.
As one gets older,life gets more and more complicated,and it is that many give up praying altogether and say ‘There may be a God,I don’t know.,’ or ‘I don’t believe in God anymore,as far as I’m concerned God is dead.’
A Jew made that statement to me and added,”If he were ever born.” Another man asked me,”Why do you believe in God?”
He was an engineer,so I asked,”Why do you believe in electricity?”
“Because I can see what it does,”he answered.
So I said,”That’s exactly why I believe in God.”
Then he asked,”What is God?
So again I queried,”What is electricity?”
He replied,”Oh,I could bring you half a dozen men who could tell you all about electricity.”
“Yes,”I said,”they could tell me all about it as far as they are aware,but they cannot tell me what it is.I could tell you a lot about God,but I cannot tell you what God is.”
That was many years ago;now I would say,’God is the life principle of all there is.’This has been the teaching of orthodox religion,theoretically.God is omnipotent,omniscient,and omnipresent.All power,all knowledge,and all prescence.
How can such all greatness die or be dead?Get rid of the idea of God as a being,and replace it with the idea of God as all being,and you will begin to form a new concept of what god is that will revolutionize your life.
Turn your thoughts away from the erroneous idea of a God all powerful,somewhere outside of you,afar off,and turn your thoughts to the idea of God as the Life-giving Principle permeating all being,yourself included.There cannot possibly be an omniprescence,something present in every point in space – and something else.Life is expressing in you as you.You are alive,Life is God,so God is in you.You are not in partnership with God,you are God expressed.This is the wonder of you,and all mankind.
Consummate genius is within all peoples,some appear to have more of it than others,only because they are more aware of it,and act as if it were true.Your body form will ultimately disintegrate as your consciousness discards it,and life will take on other forms,even of the material which composed your body,no matter how it is disposed of.The important of you,that which held your body form in place is your self-consciousness,your spirit.Elehu said to Job,’The spirit of God hath formed you,and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.’ Conciousness is the real essence of being,The spirit of you.That which thinks.Not the brain,it doesn’t think,it is only the physical organ created by Mind to enable the Spirit of you to function on this planet.
The Life principle is operating at the human level to the point of self-consciouness and man knows that he is power,and uses it in varying degrees.It may be asked,’Why,if all power and all knowledge are present at all time in every point in space,are they used in such varying degrees?
’Why is one man a genius and another exhibits a much lower grade of intelligence?’It is the awareness,or unawareness of the individual that determines the extent of the power used. ‘All power is given unto you,use it!’
All power is given unto you.use it.
That is the message given by all who have lived life successfully.The essentials of greatness are already in the consciousness of everyone,and responds to all who intensely desire perfection in creative achievement.Genius never ‘settle for second best’,it is always aiming at perfection.Creativity is the desire of the Life Principle at any level,cosmic or human.Cosmically,creation is perfect,but it is only as human becomes conscious of his oneness with the Universal Intelligence that he becomes aware of his abilities to express perfection in all undertakings.
This is the God power expressing in man,as man.Consciousness is the only reality,and all consciousness is one,whether we call it simple,self,or cosmic.There is no higher consciousness as opposed to a lower consciousness.A greater awareness in consciousness has supremacy over a lesser awareness,but always activates towards more good for the whole.
As we cultivate the habit of awareness of the perfect life-potential within,by acting as if it were true in every aspect of our lives,personally,socially,or in business activity,life takes on a new meaning.We find there is nothing too difficult for us to do,we can accomplish all things,which are in accord to the Life
Principle and its laws;the principle of wholeness and harmony,and the law of cause and effect.
God is a word used for the Life-Principle.Mind is a word used for the law,the creative power within the principle.The one and only life there is,is within you now,so all that God is ,is within you.That is why it has been said,’God can only do for you,what can be done through you.’
You decide the limit of your experience.God sets no limit.Let your consciousness be filled with this idea,constantly.All that you conceive God to be is already manifesting in you,just waiting for your conscious awareness of it,ready to be expressed in all its love,wisdom,harmony,peace,power,justice,and
joy in everything you do,say or think.
Dr Frederick says:’it hurts to face the truth that you cannot push off on a kindly deity the tasks we must perform ourselves.”But it is far more reassuring to know that you have the capability to perform all the tasks that confronts you.You are not,and cannot be in competition with anyone else,you are not place-
seeking,you are God-expressing.
Continue to express the best you are capable of giving at this moment,without worry or anxiety as to the outcome.Without fear as to how it will be received by anyone else,that is not your concern.God lives in you ,as he lives in all peoples,you personalize God.
You do not make it so,it is so,your conscious awareness that it is so is the controlling factor in your experience.Your state of consciousness expands in response to your desire and the use you are making of it in your present state.
The use you are making of it is in exact proportion to your belief in it.There is
no other way for growth or expansion of life,or consciousness.This is why it has been acknowledged by the wisest of beings, ’It is done unto you,as you believe.

You are wonderful! The highest brevelation of all timeis that God is in everyman.”
